Toddler Playgroups

From newborn to 4 years

In our playgroups young children learn essential social skills, such as relating to one another and how to participate in a group. The mood of the morning is intended to be informal, providing a warm, safe and nurturing child-centred space for children and their parents to relax and play together. Children learn through imitation at ring time, to listen, and to watch. The clear rhythm of the sessions provide the young child with a sense of reassurance and continuity.

We provide simple toys that are hand crafted from natural materials, feed the senses and nurture the imagination. We celebrate the seasons and festivals of the year through our explorations in the garden, indoor activities, songs, rhymes and verses. Both groups run every week during term time.

Garden Explorers

Garden Explorers is our outdoor group. We meet in the school garden rain or shine for natural play and outdoor fun. Every week we share the joy of a campfire, on which we cook popcorn to share as a snack. We offer child-friendly seasonal crafts after snack time followed by animated stories and songs during ring-time. The children enjoy the simple rhythm of this session and the freedom to explore the natural environment with other tots. This is a social occasion for children and adults alike and a good opportunity to meet other families and chat over a brew in Lancaster Steiner School’s beautiful garden.

Fridays 9.15am – 10.45am, in the school garden.

Booking is essential as spaces are limited. To book our space email our Garden Explorers Leader nicola@lancastersteinerschool.org

£5.00 with one child, and £8.00 for two children

Rainbow Toddlers

Rainbow Toddlers is our indoor group, which mimics the routine and rhythms of a typical Kindergarten morning. Parents and children come together to shape and bake fresh bread which is taken home at the end of the session. There are Steiner-inspired wooden toys and crafts to play with and a shared snack time for a fun sociable experience.

This is a very popular group and spaces are limited, so they must be booked for the half term.

£5.00 with one child, and £8.00 for two children.
